We started a summer tradition last year where we make a bucket list for the summer holidays ☀️

We pick some really simple and fun things to do over the holidays like making ice cream or getting the bus to town and pop a sticker once we have done it👍🏼 Obviously it goes without saying that the library #summerreadingchallenge is on the list 🙌

It gives every day a bit of a focus for us and makes time and space for fun ❤️ You can make it as simple or complicated as you want but I definately recommend making one. Let me know if you do this too and can recommend any good ideas 💡

Amongst all the travelling and craziness of school Easter holidays, today we stayed home.

This morning I visited our son's school to read Littlesville Tigers: Let the Games Begin. After reading, I also did an activity with the children where they became authors themselves. They thought of an idea and made a book cover for their own books!

Children never cease to amaze me with their creativity and enthusiasm ❤️😍

Reading doesn't have to look ' perfect'. It doesn't have to happen at a certain time. It doesn't have to last for a certain amount of time. It's about what works for you as a family. There's so much pressure on how we parent these days. Reading with our kids shouldn't be one of those things to add to the burden. It should be about the pure enjoyment, the cuddles, the laughs, the chats and the connections made.

For us, it's a huge part of our daily life now. We built it into our bedtime routine from when our eldest Tadhg was a baby and that same routine is still going strong almost 6 years later with Alannah joining in now too.

Just start writing.

It's so easy to postpone actually writing the book, the chapter, the poem. Easy to get caught up in the planning, the outlines, the plot.

We want it perfect in our heads before we put the pen to paper but no.... just start writing!

This was a massive plus point of writing a book together. When one of us stumbled with writing confidence, doubts and hesitation- the other could push through and keep the momentum going ❤️

Bringing these kiddies up will NEVER not be the most important thing we will do in our lives.

We have definately had a few moments over the last couple of years, when we have wanted to hide under a cushion and shy away from the scare-citement of writing a children's book and having it published.

BUT.... looking at these two makes us take those wobbly jumps with a little less fear and more excitement.

Looking at the world through the eyes of children; who see only opportunity and wonder- can only lead to good things❤️

Yesterday we celebrated me (Kate) turning 34. We had such a lovely day exploring Helmsley including a big walk and visiting the cutest little old fashioned sweet shop.

I only have excitement for the year ahead; I have big plans and have big goals - there's no other way right 😂?!

A very wise older brother of mine told me once to: shoot for the stars; to always aim for the best, because even if you don't quite reach those stars - you will come pretty close which will still be amazing🌟
